Host Organization Timeline1. Proposal Submit a project proposal to the FAP office not later than November 2, 2007 for faculty approval and/or revision. Please be sure that projects are cross-functional, multi-functional and include 3-4 business functions (finance, accounting, operations, marketing, management, strategy, statistics). All information is kept confidential. Our non-disclosure form can be used, if necessary. Form 1 and Form 2 can be used for project proposal submission. 2. Contact Person A dedicated "contact" person(s) at the Host Organization is a key aspect to the success of the project. This is extremely important in defining the initial project and insuring a meaningful, yet realistic project given the time constraints of the course. Each team will appoint one student as the "team contact" with whom the host organization can communicate. Our experience finds that weekly contact (conference calls, e-mails) between the students and host leads to the success of the project. 3. Kick-Off Meeting "Kick-Off" meetings will be held on campus with hosts, student teams and faculty present. At least one contact person from the Host Organization must be present at this meeting. It is an opportunity to meet students and faculty. Since the project has been defined and approved by faculty, this is your opportunity to lay out the project and to discuss in detail the project. These meetings will be scheduled from January 14-17 or 22-24, 2008 for approximately 1-1½ hours. Due to date and time constraints, kindly schedule as soon as possible with the FAP office. The scheduling will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note this is also true for Mid-Project Reviews and Final Presentations. Students' class schedules permit these meetings only to be held after classes from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Kindly indicate if any equipment (laptop, overhead projector, etc.) will be necessary and we will schedule it as needed. [NOTE: Information/materials that may be helpful for the teams can be sent to the FAP office for distribution either by e-mail or by fax at 215.573.5727.] 4. DIP (Dedicated Interview Period) Week - January 25 - February 8, 2008 for Summer Internships If you are interested in hiring any or all of your students for Summer Internships, please discuss this opportunity with them prior to this week. In the past, some hosts have hired team members to continue working on aspects of the project during the Summer. 6. Mid-Project Review "Mid-Project Review" meetings will be scheduled February 18-21, 2008 to insure the project is on track. These meetings with hosts, students and faculty can be done on campus or via videoconferencing, if the host has that capability. Again, after class hours are necessary. Please allow for an hour to an hour and half for this meeting. 7. Final Presentation "Final Presentation" meetings will take place on campus April 7-18, 2008. The Host Organization representatives must be present at this meeting. You should allow 2 hours, generally from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of each presentation. Black and white copies of the final deliverable will be available as well as one (1) color copy per team. After you have had the opportunity to examine the final presentation, we will ask you to take the time to fill out a "Host Evaluation" form that we will e-mail to you after the Final Presentation. You can return this by e-mail or by fax at 215.573.5727. The feedback we receive from you is important in evaluating the students and our program. 8. Expense Reimbursement Students will submit receipts directly to the Host
Organization (cc'ing the FAP office) for reimbursement of reasonably
incurred expenses after the Final Presentation. Such costs may be for
phone calls, travel (when necessary), research materials, and for copies of the project
report (approximately 5 black and white copies and one color copy per
team). Hosts kindly reimburse the students directly. **The Host Organization agrees to comply with all applicable laws, including nondiscrimination laws. Specifically, the Host Organization affirms its commitment not to discriminate against any student on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, disability or veteran status in connection with any aspect of the Field Application Project. Further, the Host Organization is expected to take appropriate steps to address any concern or complaint by a student regarding its compliance with equal opportunity requirements.** |
